Viet Adventure Co. organized a race taking 75 runners up the side of Ba Den Mountain in Tay Ninh Province, some 80 kilometers from HCMC, to meet the challenge of trekking up the wild, rugged terrain and climbing the countless rocky stairs.

The athletes, aged from 6 to 70 years old, scaled the mountain with an exciting ascent of 982 meters, according to the organizer.

The young Ezra Szvoboda, 16, finished first after almost two hours of pounding up the craggy trails. He was followed by 13 year old Simon Art.

“It was my first time hiking, it was great and so beautiful, and I’ll definitely be back next year,” one participant commented.

The organizer says it is committed to improving the environment and to enabling communities to embrace positive change in attitudes toward environmental sustainability. To that end, with the profits made from this adventure hike, it will finance the cleaning of the mountain.

Viet Adventure says the next event for nature and sports lovers is a jungle race called Madagui Trophy which will be held on February 27 and 28.
