Birding watching Tour at Cuc Phuong National Park - 4days/ 3 nights

Cuc Phuong National Park is in Ninh Binh Province of Vietnam. Cuc Phuong was Vietnam's first national park and is the country's largest nature reserve. The park is one of the most important sites for biodiversity in Vietnam.


 


Cuc Phuong is home to an amazing diversity of flora and fauna. Inhabitants of thepark include 97 species of mammals, most notable endangered langurs; 300speciesof birds; 36 reptilian species; 17 species of amphibians; 11 species offish;2,000 species of vascular plants, and thousands of species of insects. A numberof species in the park are listed on Vietnam Red Book of endangered species.

 

Primates in the park includemacaques, gibbon, Francois' leaf monkey and slow Loris. Other mammals includingbats, porcupine, flying squirrel, small striped squirrel, belly-banded squirrel,and the rare giant black squirrel. In the past the park was home to AsiaticBlack Bears, wild dogs, and tiger, but over hunting and lack of preyhave mostled to the loss these species.

 

Leopard, clouded leopardand jungle cat may still be present in the park.

Bird species includeBar-backed Partridge, Scaly-breasted Partridge, Silver Pheasant, Red Jungle fowl,Grey Peacock Pheasant, Laughing Thrushes, Red-vented Barbet, Green-eared Barbet,Scimitar-billed Babblers, Brown Hawk Owl, Scarlet Mini vet, Racket-tailed Drongos,Racket-tailed Tree pie, White-winged Blue Magpie. Migrant species includethrushes, flycatchers, tits, finches, pipits amongst others. Hornbills can alsobe spotted in the forest.

Flora in the parkincludes multi-layered canopy; trees up to 70m in height; flowers, including,orchids; ferns with amazingly tall leaves; and an abundance of liana andcauliflory. The park also contains plants used for such practicalities asspices and medicines as well as edible fruits, nuts, and shoots.

 

Itinerary:

 

Day01: Hanoi - CucPhuong

Transfer directly to CucPhuong National Park, a 3 hours-drive to the south. Overnight in Cuc Phuong.

 

Day02: Cuc Phuong

The first national parkto be established in Vietnam, Cuc Phuong is an area of limestone hills covered withlarge tracts of primeval rainforest. Key bird species here include Grey Peacock-Pheasant,Brown Hornbill, Bar-bellied, Blue-ramped and Eared Pitta,White-winged Magpie,Sultan Tit, Red-Vented Barbet, Limestone Wren-Babbler, Fujian Niltava and PiedFalconet. Overnight in Cuc Phuong.

 

Day03 : Cuc Phuong

A full day's bird watchingon the trails of Cuc Phuong. The birding is good at Cuc Phuong with over 300species recorded in the park. Endangered mammals such as Indochinese Tiger,Clouded Leopard and the rare Delacour Langur also inhabit the forests of CucPhuong. Overnight in Cuc Phuong. Other possible bird species includeSpot-bellied Eagle-Owl, Ruddy Kingfisher, Silver-breasted Broadbill andWhite-tailed Flycatcher. Overnight in Cuc Phuong.

 

Day04 : Depart fromHanoi

Today is departure dayand time to bid your guide farewell. There will a transfer waiting to take youfrom the hotel to the airport for your flight out of Vietnam.
